Local fallen airman laid to rest

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A funeral procession in Moon Township Saturday honored a local fallen airman.

Capt. Sean Ruane, 31, was one of four United States Air Force crew members who died in a military helicopter crash in England on Jan. 7.

Gov. Tom Corbett ordered that all United States and state flags at the capitol complex and at commonwealth facilities in Allegheny County be flown at half-staff Saturday.

Supporters gathered along the procession route holding American flags to honor and remember Ruane, a graduate of Montour High School.

Kennedy Township firemen also honored Ruane as the motorcade went past their firehouse.

“It gets to me personally because I lost a brother. This hits close to home,” said Corey Lubas.

Ruane was buried with full military honors.
