Girl suspended from school for shaving head to support friend battling cancer

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — A young girl who tried to show her support for her friend battling cancer got suspended from her Colorado school.

Kamryn Renfro shaved her head for her best friend, 11-year-old Delaney Clements, who lost her hair while undergoing chemotherapy.

Having a shaved head is a violation of the school's dress-code policy.

"It makes me sad because she was really happy to go back to school and show people what she did," said Clements.

The school allowed Renfro to return to school on Tuesday.

The school board is meeting to discuss the issue.
