HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP, Pa. - A Hopewell Area School District teacher and coach has been suspended after being accused of inappropriate behavior with a student.
Hopewell Township police said they’ve investigating Joe Rubino, but no charges have been filed.
It is unknown exactly what the accusations against Rubino are. School district officials have not commented on the situation, but his lawyer did.
“I can tell you that there are a lot of rumors going around the community. Joe Rubino is under investigation, but let me reiterate that no charges have been filed. The accusations have to do with misconduct,” Rubino’s attorney Steve Valsamidis said.
Sources told Channel 11’s Amy Marcinkiewicz that Rubino is being investigated for something to do with students and text messages.
“This is a man who has never been in trouble before. His head is spinning and it’s too early to talk about anything. We have to wait until the dust settles,” Valsamidis said.
He’s been suspended since Sept. 17, officials said.
