Illinois man jailed on charges he carjacked Brownsville woman

WASHINGTON, Pa. (AP) — An Illinois man is jailed on charges that he threatened to kill his ex-wife and stole her car as she was driving him to Pittsburgh International Airport after visiting their son.

Jason Sargent, of Tinley Park, Ill., was arrested in Washington County early Sunday morning.

Police said Rachel Sargent, of Brownsville, was driving the defendant to the airport when they began arguing, prompting her to stop the car.

Investigators said Jason Sargent, 39, also threatened his ex-wife's boyfriend who was driving in a car behind the couple before Sargent drove off in his ex-wife's car.

State police said Sargent reportedly called to brag that he had passed through airport security and couldn't be arrested -- before police did just that.

He's jailed and faces a preliminary hearing June 5.
