Indiana Co. man faces up to 10 years in prison in girlfriend's son's death

INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. (AP) — A western Pennsylvania man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty in the death of his former girlfriend's son earlier this year.

Twenty-eight-year-old Shawn Anderson-Holmes pleaded guilty before and Indiana County judge Thursday to involuntary manslaughter in the March 5 death of 17-month-old Colby Jozefczyk.

Jozefczyk was found bruised and unresponsive inside the Saltsburg home where Anderson-Holmes had recently moved to live with his then-girlfriend. Police say he covered the boy's mouth because he cried.

Prosecutors say they believe the plea was appropriate after weighing all the evidence in the case.

An autopsy found bruising on Jozefczyk's body and head. The boy's mother faces charges including aggravated assault and child endangerment but state police say they don't believe she directly played a role in the boy's death.
