PITTSBURGH - Two female inmates are accused of snorting heroin inside the Allegheny County Jail.
According to the criminal complaint, Tina Marchese and Ashley McGreal were caught snorting heroin from stamp bags marked “Insidious.”
Questions remain on how the drugs got into the jail.
The jail’s internal affairs unit released this statement:
“Every institution has inmate smuggling issues. We employ body cavity searches, but we don’t X-ray people.”
“Anything is possible. It could have been a guard. It could have been worker who smuggled it in,” said inmate visitor Diane Back.
Channel 11’s Alan Jennings reported that a dozen people were arrested this year after they were caught mailing drugs to inmates.
