Late K-9 officer's memorial T-shirts generate $47K for Pittsburgh K-9 unit

PITTSBURGH — An outpouring of support for Pittsburgh K-9 officer Rocco, who was stabbed and killed earlier this year, has generated thousands of dollars for the Pittsburgh Police K-9 Unit.

“The Black and Gold Girls” raised more than $47,000 through the sale of “remembering Rocco” T-shirts.

The money will be used to buy 15 additional vests for the department’s K-9 unit. The rest of the money will go into the Officer Rocco Fund.

Rocco was stabbed in late January while assisting with an arrest. He died two days later.
