Loose pit bull attacks man, dog on Mount Washington

MOUNT WASHINGTON, Pa. — A man in his 70s was attacked by a pit bull on Mount Washington early Friday morning.

Police said the man was walking his dog on Grandview Avenue when they were attacked. Officials said the man was bitten on his hand and the small dog had to be rushed to an emergency veterinarian. The man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to a maintenance worker at Grandview Towers, the victim lives in the building and several people witnessed the attack.

A witness said a driver stopped to help the victim and the dog jumped on the man's car. The driver said he yelled at the dog and it ran away.

Animal Control officers were called to the scene.
