Man accused in 2 homicides appears for preliminary hearing

EAST LIBERTY, Pa. — An East Liberty man charged with the deaths of two men in the past month was in court Friday for a preliminary hearing.

Julian Davis, 21, is facing various counts of criminal homicide, theft and the illegal use of a weapon in connection with the deaths of Ricardo Cooper, 30, and Shakkeem Harris, 22.

Davis is accused of fatally shooting Cooper in the head on April 22 along North Euclid Street in East Liberty. According to police, Davis broke into and robbed Cooper’s apartment.

Officials said Davis is accused of using the same gun to fatally shoot Harris along Villanova Road in Morningside on May 13.

Court documents said police were led to Davis because he’s accused of shooting a man in the foot on Tuesday during a dispute over $10.

According to forensic analysis done at the Allegheny County Crime Lab, the same gun was used in all three shootings.
