Man accused of dragging girlfriend's mother with car

DONORA, Pa. — A Donora man is in jail after police said he sped away from an argument Wednesday morning dragging his girlfriend's mother down the street and injuring her.

Police said there was an alleged physical altercation involving Ernest Leroy Majors and his girlfriend, Angela Stringa, just after midnight on Wednesday. Stringa's mother, Sequoia Stringa, intervened, police said.

Donora police Superintendent James Brice said that when Sequoia Stringa grabbed onto the rear of Majors' GMC Yukon, he drove away, dragging Stringa down the street. Brice said Majors did not stop.

Stringa was flown via medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where she was treated for injuries to her left leg and right shoulder and released, according to Brice.

Majors, 29, was arraigned Thursday in front of Magisterial District Judge Mark Wilson in Monongahela and transferred to the Washington County Correctional Facility. He was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and driving while license is suspended or revoked.

According to court documents, Angela and Sequoia Stringa posted Majors' $5,000 cash bond.

However, Brice said authorities discovered Majors had violated his probation out of Westmoreland County.

Majors was then transferred to the Westmoreland County Prison in Hempfield Township, where he is being held on a 72-hour detainer.

His preliminary hearing for the alleged incident in Donora is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. June 7 in front of Wilson.
