Man accused of punching woman, trying to kidnap another

BUTLER, Pa. — A man is facing several charges after police said he assaulted a woman and tried to kidnap another in Butler on Tuesday.

According to police, Norman Davis was driving on Ninth Avenue when he passed two women on the street. Police said Davis stopped his car and punched one of the women in the face.

Investigators said he then grabbed the other and put her in his car. The woman told officers she tried several times to get out of car, but Davis kept locking the door.

Eventually, the woman was able to escape and they immediately notified police, authorities said.

The attack appears to be random because the women said they didn’t know Davis, police said.

“That’s amazing to me. I’ve never really seen anything go on on that street and I’ve lived here all my life,” Randy Buzard said.

Davis was arrested and charged with kidnapping, unlawful restraint and simple assault. He remains in the Butler County Prison.
