PITTSBURGH - A man was arrested Saturday after attempting to break into the Steelers’ locker room at Heinz Field, police said.
A Heinz field security guard told police that the man, John Winters, 28, gained entry into the facility by breaking the lock to Gate B. He then wandered around the field before making his way to the team locker room area.
According to police, security guards watched as cameras captured Winters using a hammer to try to break into the locker room.
Police officers and security guards found Winters in the hallway leading to the locker room. There was a hammer and a bolt that held the doorknob on the locker room doors found next to where he was standing, police said.
Winters was arrested for burglary and possessing instruments of a crime.
