Man in custody after damaging gate at Allegheny Cemetery

LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa. — Police said they took a man into custody after he damaged an iron gate at Allegheny Cemetery.

Investigators said a driver ran a gate over in the Lawrenceville cemetery around 3:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, the car was there but the driver wasn’t.

Police said the owner had a psychotic episode at a nearby Sunoco station on Penn Avenue. He eventually showed up at Zone 5 police headquarters.

Officers said they took the man to a nearby hospital for a mental-health evaluation.

It was not immediately clear if he’ll face any charges.
