Man dies following shooting at memorial in Windgap

PITTSBURGH — One person died after shots were fired during a memorial service in Pittsburgh's Windgap neighborhood Saturday night.

The shooting happened at a playground on Summerdale Street, near Chartiers Elementary School, about 9 p.m.

Edward Deakings, 24, of Wilkinsburg, died from injuries he sustained, the medical examiner said Sunday.

According to police, at least 100 people were at the playground for the memorial when the shooting took place.

One other person was injured.

Police are investigating.
