STEUBENVILLE, Oh. - A man found dead inside of a former steel plant in Steubenville Monday was likely attempting to steal copper, investigators said.
The body of 51-year-old Joseph Marshall was found by an employee at Strauss Industries.
Police said Marshall broke into the former RG Steel Site and climbed an electrical tower to try to steal copper wire. Investigators said they aren’t sure if Marshall was electrocuted while cutting wires of if he died from a fall from scaffolding.
Court records indicate that Marshall had been charged in the past with trying to steal copper from the same property.
