Man found with gunshot wound blocks from North Side police station


PITTSBURGH - A man was found with a gunshot wound Wednesday night in a store parking lot three blocks away from the city police station in the North Side.

Paramedics were called to the Family Dollar store in the 1200 block of Brighton Road for a report of a man down in the parking lot with an unknown medical condition just after 8 p.m.

According to emergency dispatchers, the wound was discovered as he was being examined by physicians in the emergency room at Allegheny General Hospital.

Pittsburgh police were notified and homicide detectives were summoned after officers were told the man was in critical condition, authorities said.

At this time, it's unclear where and when the  man was shot.
