12 car pileup on McKnight Road causes morning traffic mess

None — ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A 12-car pileup caused major traffic problems in Ross Township on Tuesday.

TRAFFIC: Current Conditions

The crash happened along McKnight Road at about 7:30 a.m.

Drivers said the chain reaction crash came out of nowhere.

Investigators said no one was seriously hurt, but a lot of people said they were late for work.

"The car in front of me slowed or stopped and everybody else reacted," George Cermanara said.

Ross Township police said the pile-up was actually three separate four car pile-ups in a row.

Lisa Bakowski said she was in her brand new car when she was struck from behind.

"I got smashed from the back in my four day old car," Bakowski said. "I'm very sad. I was just washing it last night thinking about how much I loved it."

Investigators said they think the crash started when a driver crashed into a car approaching a red light.
