BUTLER, Pa. - The search for a missing staff member at Camp Agawam in Lawrence County ended Sunday afternoon when the man was located in Pittsburgh.
Boy Scout District Director Irvin Gable told Channel 11’s Lori Houy the staff member didn’t follow protocol for leaving the camp.
Gable said the man had a personal emergency and left without telling anyone or answering his phone when called.
Search and rescue teams spent several hours looking for the man until he eventually sent a text message to another staff member saying he was fine and in Pittsburgh.
The camp has resumed normal operations.
