Mom remains in hospital as police look for hit-and-run driver

JEFFERSON HILLS, Pa. — Police are looking for a driver accused of hitting a woman walking in Jefferson Hills late Tuesday night.

According to the police report, Angela McGowan, 28, was walking on Ridge Road near Route 51 when a silver Kia Soento hit her and fled the scene.

Authorities responded and found McGowan conscious in a grassy area along the roadway. She was taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center and then UPMC Presbyterian Hospital with leg and internal injuries.

“When she got hit, she flew through the air and went over the embankment, came down and her while leg was totally mangled. She said the pain hit instantly,” McGowan’s mom, Diane Damico, said. “It was good that she grabbed her cell and called 911 or she would have been left for dead.”

Damico told Channel 11’s Cara Sapida that her daughter is still in the hospital recovering.

“She had internal bleeding and multiple breaks in her leg so they airlifted her to Presby,” Damico said.

Damico said the incident has been very hard on McGowan’s child.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact police.
