PITTSBURGH - A woman will be able to spend another Mother’s Day with her daughter following a life-saving kidney transplant.
Bea Harris, 66, received the organ about a year ago.
“I was dying. I was in end stage renal disease, and without a donor I would have died,” said Harris.
Fortunately for Harris, her daughter, Belinda Taylor, stepped in and donated the kidney to save her mom’s life.
Taylor, 36, said, “You [Harris] gave me life, and it has been a joy and honor in my life to give you that kidney back so that you can continue your life and watch your life continue to grow. Happy Mother's Day.”
“I thank God for you [Taylor] every day of my life, and I thank you for another Mother’s Day, another birthday, another Christmas,” said Harris.
Taylor and other living donors were honored during a ceremony Saturday at Children’s Hospital.
