Mysterious odor sickens at least 3 kids inside McKees Rocks orthodontist's office

McKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Authorities are investigating a mysterious odor that sickened at least three children inside a McKees Rocks orthodontist’s office Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, the incident was reported just after 1 p.m. when three children complained of headaches at an orthodontist’s office on Chartiers Avenue.

Investigators said some also reported feeling light-headed.

The building was evacuated and hazmat crews were called to investigate the building. The cause of the odor remains under investigation.

“We weren’t using chemicals or anything, so I don’t know what brought this all about,” worker Denise Platt said.

The kids, whose names have not been released, were checked out, and all are OK.

Officials said the office will reopen for business on Thursday.
