NEW BRIGHTON, Pa. - A New Brighton mother is upset after she said her son was lost after attending his first day of kindergarten.
Valerie Ponticel said he son was supposed to get home from New Brighton Elementary about 3:15 p.m., but when his bus arrived he wasn’t on it.
According to Ponticel, she called the school and officials said they didn’t know where her son was.
“They said he was around and all they would tell me was that he was around there somewhere and he wasn’t in danger,” Ponticel said. “They didn’t give me an explanation of who he was with or what teacher.”
The superintendent of the New Brighton School District told Channel 11 News that they never lost track of the child. He said the child was at the school’s office as soon as they realized he wasn’t on the bus.
The superintendent went on to say that the child was registered for classes late, so he was left off a bus list that wasn’t updated.
Ponticel said her son got home about 4:45 p.m.
