PITTSBURGH - Neighbors to Catalano Park are demanding that the city take action regarding the closure and safety hazards presented at the playground in Spring Garden
After attempting to contact the city, even the mayor, the neighbors said they got no answers and turned to Channel 11.
Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski went to the park and discovered no signs indicating that the park is closed, but parents said the park presents opportunities for children to get seriously hurt.
Despite the 6-foot wire fence that surrounds the jungle gym, Kaminski said she saw plenty of evidence that children had found a way in with the padding on the jungle gym long gone.
Parents who live near the park said they would like the park to remain open, just fixed up.
“I think it's just being forgotten,” said one parent. “It's just a forgotten part of the neighborhood.”
Kaminski contacted the Pittsburgh public works department to get some answers and is still waiting to hear back.
