Police: 2 boys killed McKees Rocks man in stolen phone case

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. (AP) — Allegheny County police have charged two 15-year-old boys with helping an 18-year-old man to rob and kill a Pittsburgh-area man targeted though contacts on a stolen phone.

Police on Monday charged Lavar Whitely and Dimitri Humphrey as adults with homicide and other crimes in the June 15 robbery of 19-year-old Scott King, of McKees Rocks.

Police contend the boys and 18-year-old Christopher West, who was arrested Friday, conspired to rob King after they stole a cellphone and started getting messages from King claiming he had marijuana to sell. Police said King was fatally shot as he was driving and crashed his vehicle.

Online records don't list attorneys for Whitely, who was already in a Pittsburgh juvenile detention center on unrelated charges, and Humphrey, who was arrested in Fort Worth, Texas, on Monday.
