Charges filed against man accused in Lawrenceville hit-and-run in May

LAWRENCEVILLE, Pa. — Police issued an arrest warrant Wednesday for a man accused of hitting a bicyclist in May and leaving the scene.

Channel 11’s Renee Kaminski reported that Beau Fishinger, of West Mifflin, is facing several charges, including aggravated assault by vehicle.

Police told Kaminski they were waiting on DNA tests to complete their investigation before filing charges against Fishinger, 30.

According to police, Fishinger hit 23-year-old bicyclist Dan Yablonsky on May 13 in Lawrenceville and left the scene.

Authorities said patrolling officers found Yablonsky on the ground near Liberty Avenue and Ligonier Street about 2:30 a.m.

Investigators said Fishinger thought he hit a deer or a dog. His mother called police and reported the incident several hours later after seeing damage on his Jeep.

Detectives said Fishinger was driving on a suspended license at the time of the incident.

Kaminski talked with Fishinger’s grandfather Wednesday and he told her his grandson feels bad and didn’t know that he hit a person.

“I know he didn’t want to do it. He feels bad about it,” the grandfather said.

Yablonsky told Kaminski over the phone Wednesday that he’ll let the justice system play out. He walks with a cane from the incident and said he still has a lot of rehab to go.
