Police: Boy, 15, charged after bringing loaded gun into Beaver Valley Mall

BEAVER COUNTY, Pa. — A 15-year-old boy was arrested after police said he carried a loaded handgun into the Beaver Valley Mall on Monday.

Center Township police said the student was on his way to an alternative education program at the mall when he showed the gun to another student. Investigators said the student immediately notified police.

“If we learn anything here it’s that people have a heightened sense of security with all that’s going on in the world. They notice something and they alerted the authorities,” Center Township Police Chief Barry Kramer said.

The teen was taken into custody and charged as a juvenile. Kramer said the gun was illegally obtained.

“Know your surroundings and take time to look around and check everything out so you know what’s going on,” Kramer said.

Kramer said he’s proud of the other student who came forward and told police.
