Police chief charged with theft, forgery waives right to hearing

MT. OLIVER, Pa. — The Mt. Oliver police chief accused of stealing $8,000 from his department waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday.

The hearing on charges of theft, forgery and misapplication of entrusted property was originally set for Friday, but Chief Frank Mosesso arrived at the judge's office on Tuesday and waived the charges.

In May, Channel 11 News learned of an investigation by the Allegheny County district attorney that uncovered missing money dating as far back as 2006.

According to the criminal complaint, Mosesso transferred police department funds from one bank to another. He’s also accused of writing checks to cash to pay his personal bills.

Mesesso has been on paid leave with a shoulder injury since October 2012.
