Police connect two separate shootings in Aliquippa; 1 man killed

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Police in Aliquippa said two separate shootings within 24 hours of each other are connected.

The first shooting happened Tuesday night at the Linmar Terrace Housing Complex. Officers said 58-year-old Richard Lincheck was shot and killed in his yard on Elgin Street.

Then, Wednesday morning, police were called to a second shooting just a few blocks away on Kennedy Boulevard.

Investigators said they found Lawrence Rains sitting on a guide rail with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Aliquippa police said evidence found at the scene linked Rains to the fatal shooting on Elgin Street. He was taken to the hospital and will be formally arraigned upon release, police said.

Rains faces several charges including criminal homicide and robbery.
