PITTSBURGH - Police said a man and woman smoking marijuana in downtown Pittsburgh Tuesday night were shot several times during an attempted robbery.
Investigators said the incident happened on a walkway near the 7th Street Bridge. Police said the victims were approached by at least one person who tried to rob them.
Several shots were fired, police said, and the victims ran several blocks for help.
They hooked up with unknown people. They were smoking some marijuana, and apparently there was an attempted robbery,” Pittsburgh police Lt. Dan Herrmann said.
Officials said the male victim was shot three times and the woman was shot once.
The couple was found at the corner of Smithfield Street and Fifth Avenue and taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
“An officer saw them in the street,” Herrmann said.
The victims’ names have not been released. Both were listed in stable condition.
So far, no arrests have been made.
