McKEES ROCKS, Pa. —

Police are investigating after a McKees Rocks woman was robbed twice in the same day.

Authorities said Harriet Sweger, 72, was first robbed at a grocery store when a woman bumped into her and stole her checkbook.

“I had my purse right here and then she went in like this and ran out the door,” Sweger said.

Sweger told detectives that as she was driving to the police station to report the crime, she stopped to ask for directions in Stowe Township, and someone reached into her car and stole her purse.

“I was scared to death. You should have seen the way he snatched it and started running,” Sweger said.

According to police, an arrest warrant has been issued for the person accused of stealing her purse. Officials have not released the suspect’s name.

“Wouldn’t you be?” Sweger said when asked if she was afraid to leave the house. “I was robbed twice. Is there a tag on me or what?”

Sweger told Channel 11’s Brandon Hudson that she has canceled her bank card and account, but currently has no way of paying for anything.

Anyone with information on the robberies is asked to contact police.
