Police: Fight between brothers leads to discovery of marijuana grow operation

MONESSEN, Pa. — Police said a fight between two brothers led police to a drug discovery in Monessen Thursday.

According to police, Gregg Tchirkow was shot near a home on Fifth Street around 3:30 a.m.

"There was a man shot in the hand.  Shortly after, another man arrived with a shoulder injury," said Monessen Police Chief John Mandarino.

Police said while questioning Tchirkow and his brother, Stephen, officers found a large scale marijuana grow operation.

Police removed 150 plants, some as high as seven-feet, police said.

When the brothers get out of the hospital, they're expected to be arraigned on drug and aggravated assault charges, police said.
