Police: Man molested girl, 4, on transit bus

A Pittsburgh man is accused of molesting a 4-year-old girl on a Port Authority of Allegheny County transit bus.

Police said Craig West, 47, was seen reaching under the girl's shirt and touching her Thursday night.

"I can't believe he did that. A 4-year-old girl?" said bus rider Rose Bohram.

Channel 11 learned on Friday that West is a lifetime Megan's Law sex offender.

Police were called to a Bloomfield bus stop Thursday after the driver called for help.

Police said riders had been screaming that West, who was sitting behind the girl, reached around and touched her bare chest under her tank top. One rider told the girl's mother.

West was charged with indecent assault and unlawful contact with a minor.

The Port Authority told Channel 11 there is no way to stop sex offenders from riding buses and issued this statement:  "The details of this incident are disturbing and our thoughts are with the victim and the victim's family. Thankfully incidents like this are very rare aboard Port Authority vehicles."
