Police release video, photos of suspects in McKees Rocks restaurant armed robbery

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. - Police released new surveillance video and photos of suspects in an armed robbery at a popular McKees Rocks takeout restaurant on Friday.

Authorities said three masked men robbed workers at Pierogies Plus on Island Avenue late Tuesday night.

McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak said the thieves targeted a cook who was preparing food for the next day.

“One of the suspects threatened the cook with a gun, and held the gun to his head. But the cook was unable to open the safe and they fired a round at the safe,” Cifrulak said.

The men then emptied the cash register, which had a small amount of startup cash for Wednesday.

A surveillance camera on Chartiers Avenue showed the three men heading towards McKees Rocks and another camera picked them up just casually walking down Islands Avenue about 30 minutes before they robbed the Pierogies Plus Store, according to authorities.

Police also released two pictures of the suspects captured by the surveillance camera at an ATM.

“We are hoping that they are recognized. I would like to think that they are associates and they are together all the time,” said McKees Rocks Police Chief Robert Cifrulak.
