BIG BEAVER, Pa. - Police said a Rochester woman blamed her non-existent twin sister with stealing items from a hotel room.
According to state police, Jennifer Brown took some two comforters, two throw blankets, four pillows, an alarm clock, a coffee pot, a basket and a hair dryer -- worth a total of $206 -- from the Holiday Inn in Big Beaver on Aug. 5.
Detectives said they found Brown, 31, in a hotel across the street, the Alpine Inn, and she denied taking the items. Brown claimed her twin sister had taken the items.
When police found no record of a sister, they said Brown claimed her sister had just returned the items, which police found in the Alpine Inn hotel room.
Police said relatives confirmed she doesn't have a twin sister.
Brown was charged with misdemeanor charges of false reports to police and theft. She will receive her summons by mail.
