Police: teens use combination locks as weapon in robbery

WEST MIFFLIN, Pa.,None - Two teens were arrested in West Mifflin accused of using combination locks as a weapon, police said.

Officials said four kids were threatened and then robbed in the Century III Mall parking lot after they left a movie theater.

Rayquan Grant and his younger brother Eric were walking with their 14-year-old cousins to a bus stop when police said the suspects attacked them.

“They said, ‘If you move, we’ll hit you with these locks,’” Rayquan said.

Marcus Smith and Dwayne Holmes Bey, both 18, used the locks to steal $22 and the boys’ cellphones, police said.

Authorities said the victims’ description of the suspects led to a quick arrest. Police found Smith and Bey hiding under a trailer not far from the bus stop.

Crystal Grant said she’s proud of her kids for staying cool under pressure, but for now they won’t be allowed out late at night.

Smith and Bey have been charged with robbery and conspiracy, police said.

The use of the padlocks got them an additional charge for using an offensive weapon.
