Authorities looking for family of Moraine State Park drowning victim

PORTERSVILLE, Pa. — Authorities have identified a 52-year-old man who drowned Thursday afternoon at Moraine State Park, but have been unable to locate his family.

Dustin Drew, park manager, said rangers were called to the scene at Lakeview Beach after a man was removed from the water by bystanders.

According to Drew, witnesses reported seeing the man needing help in the water and he was eventually pulled to shore.

Drew said Dennis Sallman was at the park with the Westfield Personal Care Home from Wilmington, Lawrence County.

Channel 11 News has learned Westfield is an eight-bed group home serving adults with development disabilities.

Its website says the home has an activity aide four hours per day, seven days per week.
