Proposed ‘exotic animals' ordinance allows only pet dogs, cats

CHARLEROI, Pa. — A Charleroi business owner is afraid a new proposed ordinance limiting what animals residents are allowed to own will put him out of business.

Dan Johnson said he’s afraid his pet store will suffer greatly if Charleroi Borough bans all animals from being owned except cats and dogs.

Johnson told Channel 11 News that there are already several exotic animal laws in place, and he feels like the newest proposed ordinance is “piling on.”

He said a petition against the new ordinance is circling.
