Roethlisberger, coaches happy with QB's arm strength

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11’s Bill Phillips was in Latrobe Friday as the Steelers prepare for their second preseason game Monday night in Washington against the Redskins.

Phillips talked with Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger about his preparation heading into the 2013-14 season.

Roethlisberger said he’s confident with his arm strength coming off of last year’s injury.

“It feels as good as it’s ever been,” Roethlisberger said.

Roethlisberger told Phillips he attributes his arm strength to a more non-traditional workout he concentrated on in the offseason – kayaking.

The Steelers coaching staff, according to Phillips, agrees with their quarterback. They say they’re seeing more “zip” on Ben’s balls than in years past.

The Steelers will practice Friday and Saturday in Latrobe before traveling to Washington on Sunday. They play the Redskins Monday at 8 p.m.
