Mother accused of running marijuana grow operation out of Scott Twp. home

SCOTT TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Scott Township woman was arrested Friday after police said she was growing marijuana inside her house and having a teenager sell it.

Authorities said Jaymee Lutes, 46, was operating a marijuana grow operation inside her Glenn Avenue home.

According to police, one of Luters’ son’s classmates is accused of selling the marijuana.

“That is the most disgusting part, it was someone else’s child,” said neighbor Kim McGinnis.

Scott Township police said they discovered half a dozen marijuana plants and seeds, grow equipment like lamps and lights, and more than $750 in cash inside the home.

Neighbors who lived in Lutes’ neighborhood were surprised when they found out what was allegedly going on in the basement of her home.

“I would have never known. That’s sad,” McKinnis said.

Lutes has been released from police custody and is awaiting her preliminary hearing.
