CANONSBURG, Pa. - A man was arrested Friday morning after SWAT team members and police executed a search warrant at his Canonsburg home and found several guns, as well as a significant amount of cocaine.
According to Washington County District Attorney Eugene Vittone, law enforcement agencies raided Joshua Thomas’ West College Street home Friday about 6 a.m. and discovered an AK-47, a shotgun, an assault rifle and several other guns.
Police said they also found a significant amount of cocaine and other drug paraphernalia.
"This operation is a continuing part of our efforts to investigate and prosecute dangerous drug dealers in all parts of Washington County." said Vittone. "I am particularly thankful to see that the police have taken many firearms in connection with this raid."
Vittone said Thomas, 34, is facing several firearm and drug-related charges.
"I heard the first boom and thought, 'Is that a gunshot?'" said neighbor Roxanne Rodriguez. “They kickin’ in the front door and the back door at the same time. They were in the front.
They were in the back. They blocked out the whole street."
Canonsburg Mayor David Rhome praised the efforts of the law enforcement officers and drug task force members.
"It is good to see this level of cooperation between all of the law enforcement agencies. This cooperation and professionalism leads to good results in taking dangerous criminals off the streets of Canonsburg," Rhome said.
Police said Thomas’ girlfriend was also in the home at the time of the raid, but is not facing charges at this time.
