PITTSBURGH - Several people were hurt in a hit-and-run accident in Pittsburgh’s Summer Hill neighborhood Saturday afternoon.
John Pignanellilos told Channel 11 News that he and his family were in the process of moving when the accident happened.
Pignanellilos said he was driving a U-Haul van when he was rear-ended by a vehicle about 4 p.m. near the intersection of Evergreen Road and Ivory Avenue. When he got out of the van to exchange information with the other driver, Pignanellilos said the driver put the car in reverse and drove forward, hitting Pignanellilos and his mother.
The driver then drove away after Pignanellilos jumped onto the front of the car and his friend, Kevin Fields, jumped onto the back.
“I hung onto the back of the car and he drug me like 30 feet, and cut my finger trying to protect my family,” said Fields.
Pignanellilos’ mother was taken to an area hospital to be treated for her injuries.
Pignanellilos described the car as being dark gray or silver in color, with a license plate number starting with HCY.
