Shaler considering Saturday classes to make up snow, strike days

SHALER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The Shaler Area school board is tossing around the idea of Saturday classes.

Students in the district missed class because of a strike and winter weather this year.

The school is in jeopardy of not meeting its 180 day-in school requirement after three emergency snow days and an 8-day teacher strike.

The board has asked the state to count Saturday, June 7's commencement practice as a makeup day for lost hours.
