• Shooting, crash leads to SWAT situation in Hill District

PITTSBURGH - Police are looking for the person who shot a jitney driver in the Hill District.

Authorities said officers heard shots being fired and then found the 56-year-old jitney driver in his car, which had run off the side of Kirkpatrick Street and crashed over a hillside.

Officials said the driver, whose name hasn’t been released, had a gunshot wound to his leg. He is in stable condition.

Detectives said they were able to trace phone records to a nearby apartment on Oak Hill Drive.

Police closed nearby roads and the SWAT team was called in, but the shooter wasn’t inside the apartment.
