PITTSBURGH - Strong thunderstorms moved through the Channel 11 News viewing area Tuesday, packing a considerable punch.
Several severe thunderstorm warnings were issued throughout the afternoon and evening Tuesday. A tornado warning was issued across the Ohio/Pennsylvania border.
Heavy rains created conditions for flash flooding. Banksville Road between Crane Avenue and the Parkway West was closed as floodwater spilled onto the roadway.
Trees and power lines were brought down by a mudslide below Taylor Street in Monroeville. Crews cleared Pitcairn Road of debris, but a portion of the road between Stroschein Road and Sugar Camp Park is closed until further notice as a precaution.
Downed trees and water-covered roadways were reported throughout the region.
