Study ranks Pittsburgh as 6th most literate city in U.S.

PITTSBURGH,None — In a recent study conducted by the Central Connecticut State University, Pittsburgh was ranked the sixth most literate city in the United States.

Say what you want about the nation's capital, but according to the study, people in Washington can read.

For the second year in a row, Washington topped the annual list of American's most literate cities.

The four highest ranked cities, including Seattle, Minneapolis and Atlanta, are the same as in 2010.

The study ranked the nation's largest communities based on six indicators of literacy: newspaper circulation, number of bookstores, library resources, periodical publishing resources, educational attainment and Internet resources.
