Supporters rally behind proposed bike trail connecting 9/11 crash sites

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. — There’s growing support for a plan to develop a bike trail connecting the three Sept. 11, 2001 crash sites.

Somerset County officials said they want to hire a consulting firm to plan a way to extend The Great Allegheny Passage bike trial to the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville.

The county has received more than $100,000 in grants and donations for the project.

Supports said they want to ultimately create a loop linking The Great Allegheny Passage with bike trails leading to crash sites in New York City and Washington, D.C.
