MCKEES ROCKS, Pa.,None - Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery at a McKees Rocks McDonald's.
Officials said a man and a woman came into the McDonald's Sunday night and threatened employees at gunpoint. They demanded free food and cash, police said.
McKees Rocks police Chief Robert Cifrulak said employees originally thought the culprits were joking.
"The initial demand made was for free food and the gals that were working behind the counter didn't see the threat," Cifrulak said. "They kind of played along until he pointed at the register and said I want whats in there."
Cifrulak said the employees were so frightened they ran out of the building.
The culprits didn’t get away with anything except the employee’s cellphones, police said. The cellphones were later found in the street.
Anyone with information on the attempted robbery is asked to contact police.
