Suspect in armed carjacking at Consol Energy Center arrested

PITTSBURGH — Police caught a suspect across from the Consol Energy Center minutes after he allegedly carjacked a person on Saturday.

Police said the incident happened Saturday afternoon on Troy Hill Road when the man allegedly threatened the driver with a gun before taking off in the driver’s 2003 Mercury Marauder.

Police said they later spotted the car after it crashed into a fence near the old Civic Arena parking lot.

Police arrested the suspect.

The owner of the vehicle was not hurt.
