FAYETTE COUNTY, Pa. — A Fayette County was arrested after police said he tried to break into a supermarket through the roof.

Investigators said a woman working in the bakery called 911 when she saw two legs hanging from the vent.

The owner of the family-run business, Donald D’Amico, rushed to his store as troopers quickly surrounded the building and gained access to the roof.

“He caused a little bit of damage on the inside to some of our vents,” D’Amico said.

Beal was arrested, and police said he told them he had been on the roof sleeping.

The Morrell Fire Department brought a ladder truck to bring the troopers and the suspect down from the roof.

“We heard he might have been looking for cigarettes, not sure,” D’Amico said.

Beal is facing charges of burglary and criminal trespass.

Pechin’s Supermarket has been a staple in Fayette County since 1947.
