NICHOLSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Two men accused of attacking a woman while she slept inside her Fayette County home last year faced a judge Tuesday.
Walter Myers and his nephew, Michael Weber, are accused of breaking into a home on Konicki Road in Nicholson Township in November.
According to police, Myers and Weber ransacked the home and then Weber beat 59-year-old Wanda Wokulich with a shovel.
“I don’t remember anything until I heard state police,” Wokulich said Tuesday.
Myers said Tuesday he saved Wokulich’s life by calling 911 after Weber hit her in the face with a shovel.
“I did what I had to do to save the lady’s life. I called 911,” Myers said.
At Tuesday’s preliminary hearing, both suspects claimed their innocence.
“It’s hard to understand why they did any of this. Why was it necessary? Hopefully they won’t hurt anyone else,” Wokulich said.
